Mr. Suárez a Cuban/Dutch Chicago native, began training when he was three years old. A Raleigh School of Ballet and Durham School for Ballet and the Performing Arts alum, he continued his training at University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Under the direction of Ethan Stiefel, he performed roles such as Chinese and Toy Soldier, in Nutcracker, Peter in Peter and the Wolf, Czardas in Swan Lake, and in Jose Limon’s “The Unsung.”

Rubén has appeared as a guest artist at Carolina Ballet, Charlotte Youth Ballet & Ballet Petite in Washington DC. After graduating from UNCSA, as a trainee with Washington Ballet, he performed roles such as Spanish in Septimes Weber’s Nutcracker and a wolf in Michael Pink’s Dracula. In 2013-14, Rubén danced as a Corp Member with Baltimore Ballet. While there, he performed as Spanish, Trepak and Nutcracker Prince as well as Prince Ivan in Firebird. He most recently danced as a Soloist with Ballet Theater of Maryland and is currently dancing as a Freelance Artist.

Durham School for Ballet & the Performing Arts’ aim is to provide a space for the cultivation of creativity through dance. Dance is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun. Our role as Dance Educators is to help children climb their own mountains.
