Melinda Wiggins
Aerial Silks

Melinda Wiggins has loved dance since childhood, but only began taking dance classes as an adult. She has taken African, hip-hop, break dance, caribbean, salsa, merengue, cumbia, bachata, belly dance, lindy hop, swing, and ballet at several local studios.

She began taking aerial classes in 2009 and knew that it was the perfect combination of dance and athletics that she was seeking. Melinda has completed aerial silks teacher training with the New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA) in Introduction and Foundation Levels and with Born to Fly in Level 1. She is also certified in Pilates Basic Mat by the Pilates Certification of NC. She teaches beginning and intermediate aerial silks, as well as conditioning.

Durham School for Ballet & the Performing Arts’ aim is to provide a space for the cultivation of creativity through dance. Dance is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun. Our role as Dance Educators is to help children climb their own mountains.
